Biogas Wipptal in Sterzing, South Tyro
The operation of the 1 MW biogas plant “Biogas Wipptal” in Sterzing in South Tyrol bases on cattle dung and cattle manure from almost 70 farmers.
The dosing system, the processing plant and the liquid feed-in with the control unit and electrics had been supplied by BioG.
The liquid manure is then separated, the BioG dosing system feeds the solid phase uniformly to a drying plant and the dry material is then pelletized. The liquid phase is processed until the receiving waters quality has been achieved, so that no material transport from the plant is necessary.
Meanwhile, this unique EU project has been awarded a number of prizes, including the Italian Sustainable Development Award “Sviluppo Sostenibile 2016” prize in the category “Energy from renewable sources”.
